Sights in Bad Hofgastein
Parish Church:
place of contemplation and a historic monument of great beauty. The so-called Church of Our Lady was built between 1498 and 1507. At its heart is a magnificent Baroque altar which entered the annals of art as the great masterpiece of the painter Josef Andrä Eisl and sculptor Paul Mödlhammer.
Weitmoserschlössl Castle:
Dine like royalty. This Late Gothic castle in the typical Salzburg style dates from the year 1554 and the days when gold- and silver-mining were at their height. Today, this little gem delights our visitors with its café and restaurant.
Birdwatching Path:
Head out on your own two feet to explore the world of birds. A quite special nature experience, a walk during which you can come into direct contact with native wildlife. The starting point is at the Pyrkerhöhe Aparthotel & Restaurant, 20 minutes from the “Talstation” city bus stop.
Natural Monuments:
Dizzying heights. An easy hike along the Gastein Höhenweg (high path) leads to the Gadaunere Gorge, only 20 minutes from the “Gadaunern” city bus stop. Impressive views of the depths below!
The Höhenweg leads along the eastern side of the valley at elevations around 1,000 metres, taking us from Bad Hofgastein to Bad Gastein and to the Grüner Baum Hotel & Resort; Distance: 8.5 km; Trail Time: 2.5 hours.
Schmaranzgut Organic Farm:
Organic hops and malt - a gift from heaven itself! In Wieden/Bad Hofgastein, Austria's first and only organic brewery invites you to join them for a tour and tasting! An interesting tour, even for those whose favourite drink is not necessarily a golden, foam-topped brew!
Archery Parcours:
Historical weaponry infused with new life. Archery is a sport that can be enjoyed by everyone, becoming increasingly popular as a means of honing strength and concentration. Enjoy your existing hobby or try out this fascinating sport on the archery parcours by the Waldgasthof Angertal.
